Analysis and implementation of a cost effective voice encoder for conversion of G.711, G.723 and G.729 for up to 128 simultaneous voice channels. Industry: Tele communication

  • * Requirements specification, technology analysis and recommendation of suitable technology. 
  • * Implementation of voice encoding system based on Nios-II in an FPGA.
  • * Integration of an IP-core in the FPGA, ADPCM-core from Amphion.
  • * Test environment with prototype card and software for test and debug.
  • * Support for integration of the FPGA-system into a product.

  • Tools, Methods and Technology:
  • * DSP-solutions from Texas Instruments and Analog Devices.
  • * Altera Quartus-II with SOPC-builder.
  • * Amphion ADPCM IP-core.
  • * VHDL-93.
  • * Nios-II with software developed in Alteras Eclipse based environment.
  • * CVS for revision management.

  • Result:
  • * Voice Encoder for VoIP-gateway implemented in FPGA.
